Public Information Officers

Public information officers (PIOs) are employed by university media relations and research news offices, as well as government agencies and other institutions. Many have backgrounds in journalism and/or science, and they are often available to assist scientists and engineers who have information to share with the news media.

Not sure who at your institution fills this role? If your institution has submitted their PIO contact information to EurekAlert!, you can find it on EurekAlert! Science Sources.
